Telecommunications (Do Not Call Register) (Telemarketing and Research Calls) Industry Standard 2006

The Telecommunications (Do Not Call Register) (Telemarketing and Research Calls) Industry Standard 2006 comes into affect on Thursday 31 May 2007. Market and social research are exempt from the Do Not Call Register, however the standard includes restrictions on hours of calling which could be applied to our industry. Under the standard, a caller must not make or attempt to make a call on:

* Saturday or Sunday before 9am or after 5pm

* A national public holiday

* for research calls, a weekday before 9am or after 8.30pm

* for other telemarketing calls, a weekday before 9am or after 8pm.

If a respondent has consented in advance to receiving a call outside of these times, then we can meet that appointment. We must call on that day and the time requested by the respondent.
